interesting.....I've had no trouble with Remingtons because I've not bought any Remingtons....
Guns that I dearly love are SKB, Citori, M-70, Marlin, Mossberg
Interesting....there's no correlation with price and quality here!!!

I would not in any way consider savage to be low quality firearms. Name anyone who has had one that has malfunctioned or failed to shoot well. My guess is that they are few and far between. There are quite a few that I consider to be low quality, Ruger tops my list. They look nice but don't shoot well at all. Quilly may dislike it, but browning is near the top of my list of non desirable firearms. Their quality is ok (due to their japanese manufacture), but their design, engineering and metallurgy is strictly second rate. Talk about poorly engineered crap. Give me a M70 or a mauser any day, there's nothing browning makes other than their over/unders that I would allow in my gun safe.

If the gun does not have correct fit it is never ever going to shoot consistently despite design differences so fit does mean something. I have to disagree with you on Ruger and Weatherby...I have only returned one to the factory it was the lightweight in 270 and I recieved a brand new one back since there was a manufacturing problem with it. This took one month time as a result of this experience I would rate Weatherbys customer service as excellent. I bought a used number 1 a few years back and there were some marks on the breechblock that did not belong there...it was returned to ruger and it came back in 2 weeks ...new breechblock and no charge. Now if you want a real piece of overpriced crap buy a Remington...just about everyone including custom shop rifles have had to be returned. In fact I have bought exactly 11 of these things and returned 6 to Remington or their local authorized repair center. Now isn't that a track record they can be proud of.

Other than a hefty trigger pull on my savage I have no other complaints, that thing can shoot. I've had one minor, minor defect problem with a ruger and they fixed it asap.

I have a Remington 700 30.06 that i bought 12 years ago and it has performed flawless and taken many deer. It shoots just as good now as it did then and was very accurate out of the box and still is. It shoots 1/2" groups all day as long as i do my part. Like i said it's been flawless. I also have a Savage that i bought before i bought the Remington so it's older than 12 years and it's also a shooter. I agree it's not the best looking rifle i have but the gun has always been flawless and is also very accurate. I just bought a H&R single shot in 25.06 caliber and for the price it's also a good gun. It didn't group well at first but i had a trigger job done on it and am in the process of working up a load for it now. The gun looks good and feels nice when i shoulder it. I can't say anything about Browning or the others because i've never owned them but i have a couple of friends who swear by them. I think you can get a lemon in anything you buy so I guess i was lucky and got a couple of the good ones when i bought my guns.

I must admit that I see progress at Ruger...their single action revolvers seem to be fine, their 10/22 seems to be fine and their .22 semiauto pistol seems to be fine....
I bought a gold hunter from browning that I didn't like.....it's the only gun I ever bought from Browning that I was disappointed with...
