Default My Gun Control Rant

Firearms have long been a staplein american culture. While I wish I could say that it was always for the the better there are occassions where injust policies and false ideologies have corrupted the noble firearm and given them a bad name at certain points in history. While the media and politicians try desperately to limit what we can own by proliferating flawed ideas and theories it is important to note the guns role in history. To vaguely quote the history channel"the gun has served good guys and villians alike, and to better understand the gun is to better understand history"if understand history then maybe we can all see the truth... that the firearms are NOT evil like some would have us believe but rather a noble instrument whose character is being viciously attacked. For those of you who have forgotten history, it was the firearm that enabled a common everyday pheasant to slay a member of royalty on the battlefield thus empowering the lower class. From that point forward royalty began to realize that they could no longer easily ignore the plight of the common people for with this new tool they had the power to insurrect. In the 18th Century a group of colonies used these same tools to fight injustice and oppression from a foriegn master. Common farmers, hunters and country men gathered their hunting rifles and squirrel guns and took arms against their colonial oppressors. Against all odds with freedom in mind, passion in their hearts and a rifle in hand the managed to resist the british andearnedindependence through blood and sweat.Whenour founding fathers designed this great nation, they designed a form of government that was to be made by the people and for the people.
"When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.--Such has been the patient sufferance of these Colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government. The history of the present King of Great Britain is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world."
To ensure that the government that they were creating (our US GOVERNMENT) did not become tyrannical like that of King George III they created the bill of rights. The 1st amendment gave all men the freedoms we take for granted each and everyday, (speech, religion,press, assembly). The Second granted all american citizens the right to bare arms. This, the 2nd amendment could have easily been forgotten or not stated because at the time, most households had at least one firearm. So think, this amendment could have easily been thought of as somethingthat was a"given" yet they didnt. Instead they not only chose to clearly express this as a god given right but they also chose to list it second under the freedom of speech. So think, Why? Why did they feel that they needed to protect the right to own firearm? why was so this so important to them?
The Answer is simple, because with firearms people not only have the right but the power to resist the governmental oppressions that come with a tyrannical government. Citizens would hold the power and not the government. Today we find ourselves living in a world where it can be argued that a strong federal government controls the masses. With the Electoral College the individual voters vote does not matter (contrary to what you might believe) The 2000 Election was proof of that. The Government realizes that there is a real risk of an insurrection amongst its citizens. Instead of honoring the system which they had sworn to protect and uphold they instead do whats best for themselves. (thus is the human condition) To ensure that the current system isnt able to be threatened they institute unconstitutional measures to limit and control the means on insurrection. By creating fears and playing on them they are able to muster enough support to do this. To sum this up, Firearms Threaten the Government by once again placing the power into the hands of those who do all the work to build this nation yet get no voice and trampled on. Instead of trying to appease the public with fair taxes and representation the government merely is restricting the firearm. And that is what the firearm means in terms of governments but it goes far beyond that.
For the individual the firearm has long has its root in survival. From early hunters to early fronteersmen the firearm put food on the table and ensured that you were safe to enjoy it. In many regions, having a firearm was the best way to ensure life. This was true 200 years ago as it is true today. While many people in the urban centers of america have lost touch with the concept of being autonimous many people in rural parts havent. City people, like myself, have grown used to going to the corner store for our food and having a police force provide protection. But at what cost? We have forgotten how to survive for our selves and how to live without a government giving everything to us. BUT what would happen if the system should fail? can anyone honsetly say that they could survive? or would you starve (if you werent murdered first). If you were to ask that same question to a country person (or redneck) I am sure that many of them would survive. Why? Because the not only have a plethera of skills that are deemed uncivilized by left wing urbanites but because they also have the means (The Tool)to provide food and defend themselves, the gun. Be it a pistol, shotgun or rifle these people in our culture havethe knowledge to not only have these "weapons" but also how to use them safely. Yet those same left-winged liberals, those that would die without the help of these "backward folks" in a world without order, that criticize the firearm. But WHY?
Hunting: Hunting for true hunter isnot a sport as much as it is a means of putting food on the table. NOT EVERYONE HASFRESH, CHEAP, MEAT readily available and the money to buy it. Those who give hunting a bad name are poachers and often times urbanites whousuallydue to ignorance or inexperience kill things for the blatant thrill. It is Important not to confuse these killer with hunters. FACT: most true hunters are actually some of the greatest contributors to the field of animal conservation.
Safety: Saftey is a sore subject. While lawmakerswill always try to control what can legally be purchased they seldomly makesafetly classes mandatory. Urbanites withbe the firstto criticize and say that guns are unsafe. Guns are as safe as their operator.Movies like bowling for columbine criticize the american society for having the most deaths by guns when there are other countries who have more firearms yet less deaths. They reason is that a majority of the deaths by guns in this country come from stupid owners who hide things from their kids. The bring something into the house and hide it and tell the kids to stay away or nothing at all. The owner does not follow proper safety protocols and places it in a place where it is readily accessible. By not explaining it to his family the owner has created and item of mystery which naturally attracts attention. Attention that is often fatal for children. Why? not because guns are evil, because the same could happen with a knife or powertool or anything that isnt properly explained to a curious child, but rather because of ignorance. The reason why countries and even states withhigher amounts of firearms have the least amounts of accidents stems from the fact that they do not make the mistakes mentioned above. Instead of hiding it, they show their family what it is, what is for, and how to use it safely.BUT WAIT? some would say that this would create asociety full of guns.
I say, what is so bad about that? Statistics prove that countries, states and counties with more firearmsactually haveless crime and shootings than those whichhave systems that restrictfirearm ownership.HOW COULD THIS BE YOU ASK? simple, crooks and government love defenseless people. It makescompleting their agendas all the easier. Dont believe me? consider that the countries where it is illegal to own firearms often have militia who massacre innocent peoples while they sleep and other atrocities. Case in point: Texas vs. Washington DC. The state of texas with all its citizen has gotten the reputation of being a bunch of gun-totting rednecks while Washington DC has so many laws in place that it is virtually impossible to even own a basic firearm. Despite the fact that Washington ( the nations capitol) has a fraction of the population of the state of texas it has exponentially more crime that one of the largest states in the union. Why? because criminals know the laws in place and frankly gun laws work in favor of criminals. Criminals know that the resident of DC are less likely to have a gun to defend themselves, conversly in Texas you can never be sure if the 89 year old lady has a Carry and Conceal or not. This also proves my other point that gunlaws do not make you (the people) safer the instead put you in danger. If a gun is made illegal then no law abiding citizen will own one. But what it to keep a career criminal from buying or stealing one on the streets or from a cop? Nothing! Someone who has the intent of breaking the law with a gun is not going to follow the law in the first place and not buy one merely because youre not allowed. The only thing made safer by gunlaws are corrupted government officials. Dont be fooled! Dont think that if you were to somehow make all guns illegal that there would be no more gun crimes. Guns will exist, guns endure not only because they are made from time tested alloys and space aged polymers but because they embody the spirit of the patriot, the freedom fighter... the true american. And if by chance all the factories were shutdown what do you think will keep people from making their own? I mean look at prisions and clever people in the past, just about anyone can make a gun, if not due to the millions of parts flooding the global market then they would make the parts themselves. Prohibition did not end alcohol and niether will gun control laws end guns. all they will do is make you the citizens who are afraid of them, unsafe and vulnerable.
The Government is supposed to provide security for its citizens yet time and time again the law fails to keep murders from killing, burglers from robbing and rapest from finding yet another victim. Dont rely on the government entirely, protect yourself and your family. With your 911 response time being over 6 mins (at best) do you really feel that a policeman should be you primary means of defense? If you do then I pray for your families... I Pray for our children and I Pray for all freedom loving people because afterall..
