I bought my first deer rifle in 1983.......it was a remington 788 in 7mm08. i've owned several more since then . 140 gr remington factory loads, handloaded 139 gr hornady interlock ,140 serria ,140 nosler ballistic tip ,all kill deer great.there are at least 6 of my buddys that have , and use 'em every season ,its a great cartridge .

I was thinking the same thing. I love this little cartridge. The way it works around here is that some dad originally buys a 7mm-08 for his wife or kid and then gradually more and more begins using it himself anytime they don't go hunting with him. For me it's just about the perfect deer cartridge.

Wow, i didn't realize everyone liked this round that much. I might have to go buy one and try it. The bad thing is, i already have a .270, .30-30, .300 wsm, and a .223. Guess i'll just have to make room in the safe for one more.

If you really love the .270 thenjust add another rifle, but if the .270 is just another rifle to you, I'd recommend selling it and adding the 7mm-08 to the mix. Looks like it would fit in rather nicely. Nothing wrong with the .270 though, you just don't really need IMHO a 7mm-08 with the mix you already have. Not to throw a wrench into things, but if the .308 parent cartridge is really what you are after, stuff a .243 in with your other guns, and keep 'em all. Out here in Idaho, the .243 or any of the fast .22's are the preferred coyote fodder.
