Yes RR I must agree that 458 sounds awesome.
LTBG-go to the Leverguns.Com forum. Those guys are experts on lever guns. I have read several articles about the Puma, and the 454 there. That 1892 is a fine rifle for a good price, especially if you slick it up a little. I think Iwas the one who mentioned the Puma??? Tom.

Marlins will be you best bet if you want more power for less. But presonally I am a big fan of the .30 carbine. Technically its not a pistol round, but in power its about the same as a .38 special at 200m. Plus you get semiauto power

Shot my deer last year with my Cowboy Action Rifle. Marlin 94 in 357 magnum. Used the federal fusion ammo with GREAT results. If I didn't already have the gun on hand and the state I was in changed the reg's. I might buy a T/C Encore 20" barrel in 460 S&W. Then you can shoot 454 casuls or 45 long colts as well. Second choice would probably be a 44mag lever action Marlin.
