Ruger's warranty for accuracy of the #1 is for a 1.5" group at 50 yards!!!!! yes...50 yards.....and while many #1 rifles shoot better than that they will not help you unless groups exceed their standard......

Ruger is also good at finding ways to void the warranty.

Only Savage is a worse gun to own when it comes to functional problems..... and Savage does stand behind their guns quite well.....

There are no Ruger (or Savage) long guns in this house for basic quality reasons.
Only the best for you, I guess. How many Savages have you owned? How many Rugers? or are you making these remarks based on someone's opinion that you read on a hunting forum?

I just read your PM to me and if there is a problem it's that someone didn't wash your mouth out with soap as a kid!

As a matter of fact it's now clear that you still are a kid!

I post my experiences.....nothing more and nothing less!

Thats funny, because I didn't put any profanities in my PM, I just told you to stop blaming the rifle for your lack of shooting skill.

It sounds like you are looking for a nostalgic reason to buy a perfect firearm. I have never met a deer that can tell the difference between an inch or two at 200 or 300 yards. Take your time and find a nice #1 with a beautiful piece of wood, or an 1885 with nice wood. Put together a fine weapon that anyone would be proud to carry in the woods.

Yes, firearms are a tool, and yes Fiberglass and SS are easier to care for. But there is just something about handling and shooting a fine looking rifle. Go ahead and get you a rifle you can be proud of. I like the single shots myself. Tom.

I have never found that using a single-shot rifle is any handicap. I am able to poop off as many rounds in an afternoon with a single shot as the other guys with repeaters. In addition, the single-shot is at no disadvntage at all in the hunting field. You only give up perhaps two seconds reloading a No. 1 as opposed to a bolt action, and every Ruger single shot I've owned ( a 25/'06, a7X57mm's, a 7mm Rem. Mag., a .30/'06, a .30/40 Krag, a .375 H&H, and a .45/70) was as accurate as any bolt action right out of the box. I could care less what Ruger's accuracy standards are, as long as the stuff I buy from them meets MY standards! So far, it has, beginning in 1972 when I bought a Model 77 in 7X57 because they weren't making the 7X57 in the No. 1 yet. But I have one of those too, now.

I have never dealt with Ruger customer service, because no Ruger product I've ever owned failed to work as required.
