It sounds like you are looking for a nostalgic reason to buy a perfect firearm. I have never met a deer that can tell the difference between an inch or two at 200 or 300 yards. Take your time and find a nice #1 with a beautiful piece of wood, or an 1885 with nice wood. Put together a fine weapon that anyone would be proud to carry in the woods.
Yes, firearms are a tool, and yes Fiberglass and SS are easier to care for. But there is just something about handling and shooting a fine looking rifle. Go ahead and get you a rifle you can be proud of. I like the single shots myself. Tom.
