dont overlook the Remington 700 SPS Varmint. Dick's sporting goods has them for 550 with a 4-12x40 scope...scope, rings and bases are junk...but remington says the gun alone is 605...i also got mine with a OD green stock that i really like...black would looked too plain for such a rifle IMO...mine is in 22-250...i love it. changed the rings and bases...gotta make the scope work another week or 2 till i buy the new scope..actually aint half bad for a cheap scope...think its a tasco..looks identical to my buddys tasco..decintly clear..even on 12x...just aint a high end scope..



i too was going to buy a used rifle to save money...but im glad i didnt...exspecially in 22-250..i would most likely ended up with a shot out barrel...i really like my SPS..good shootin rifle..havent shot paper much other than sighting it in...figure by the time i get my new scope the bore will be settling down and i can see what it can do...

killed my 9th and 10th groundhogs with it today. missed one about 350 or so...i knew i should have aimed a hair high...i missed a hair low! the looks are decieving shooting hillside to hillside and it throws me off! ill get him next time!

I kmow what you mean about wanting a nice Varmint heavy in .243. I traded a 700 BDL .243 Varmint years ago, and wish to this day I had it back. What a shooter it was! Been looking for it's replacement ever since... Found everything but the .243. Still looking.

I appreciate the replies guys. I went on ahead and ordered myself a new Howa varminter supreme with the pepper laminate stock and stainless steel last week. I was leaning towards the Ruger, but I read a lot of good stuff about the Howa and I already have a ruger with the brown laminate stock and stainless steel in 7mm Rem Mag. What's more, a local gunshop was able to get me a pretty good price on the Howa (should be a little over $600 when I pick it up this week). Hopefully it ends up being a nice gun. I'll post some pics of it later this week.

I got the 243.

I've used Remington, Winchester, Ruger etc and have been very satisfied with my CZ's. I own 3 and have just ordered a CZ 550 American in 22-250. Everyone makes good rifles but for my money CZ is the best accuracy out of the box. You owe it to yourself to check them out before you buy.

You won't be dissapointed with the Howa I'm certain. Be sure to give us a full run down when you get her to the range. Best of luck! I foresee many Coyotes doing bang flops in your near future.

I've always been curious about those, how much did you pay for it? Could you also break down the price individually? (i.e. listing the price of the rifle and the scope seperately, and the total you paid for both with tax.)
