Default Hearing protection for handgun hunting

How many of you use hearing protection while hunting with a handgun. If you do what do you use? I have the plugs on a string but was thinking about getting muffs and just put them on before I shoot.

I dont' wear hearing protection hunting any weapon. Might be a smart thing to do, but really hinders me. I sure dont' wear them with a 460 smith which is very loud.

I ALWAYS use some type of protection for practice. Maybe not so if I'm using a rimfire, but you get what I mean. I have wondered about using something for hunting stiuations, but the lack of sense of hearing, and the added movement it would require is more than I want to deal with. The only way I would ever do it is with some type of electronic device, but I'll just keep on spending my money elsewhere.

But some big-bore handguns really have a 'crack' to them.

Practice-yes
Hunting-no

Probably should, but I don't. I've been thinking about a Walkers Game Ear, but I've never bought one.

Target shooting, sighting in yes wear ear protection. Hunting NO. You wouldn't want to miss the faint sound of a deer moving by behind you would you?

I only wear them for practice. I know i should when hunting but i can never seem to remember them. I want to get some of the electronic ones that i can amplify the sounds around me.

Why not some of those electronic muffs? They are awesome. I can carry on a conversation with the guy next to me with 14 F-16's running. The jets get filtered out and just the voices carry through. I havent tried them for hunting, but they are cheaper the the 'game ear' style plugs.
