They seem to be a good stock, but I would never own one. The biggest draw back they have is that they are extremely heavy. You can get equal or better stocks that are 1 to 2 pounds lighter. I prefer McMillan and H-S Precision stocks any day over Choate's.

Any idea of how they compare in price?
I'm wanting a pistol grip for my Mini-14 just for hoots and hollers and as that's not a super accurate I'm not trying to spend a ton of money on it.

I have used choate stocks before and they are well made. Choate stocks are in my opinion, some of the best made stocks within their price range. You can buy better stocks but they will likely cost 2 times what choate will. There is no comparsion between mcmillian and choate however.
I consider the choate stocks the better brand of the cheaper type of stocks. They are injection molded plastic instead of hand laid layers of kevlar, carbon fiber,and/or fiberglass. For serious rifles I would reccomend the top of the line stocks but for your particular use, choate will do just fine.

I was thinking your were refereing to the Choate Tactical and Ultimate stocks, not the one for the Mini-14.
Try this and see if this was what you were looking for.

metaldonnie,
I have a dragunov style choate stock for the mini-14 I'll sell it to ya for a fair price. I even have the raised cheek piece for it if you ever decide to scope your mini-14. The stock is basically new I bought it back in 2002 I had it on the gun for a couple days then took it off after I found out the stock in conjuction with the flashhider and heat shroud made it an illegal combination according to the 1994 AW bill. now that the bill expired the combination is now legal but I just never had the desire to put it back on.
Ive got the stock and everything that comes with it which includes a 3/4" stock spacer and longer screws. I think I paid 65 bucks for it. Then the raised cheek piece is actually the same cheek piece thats comes on their ultimate sniper/varmint stock but it also works with the dragunov stock. If you ever scope your mini-14 the scope will sit pretty high off the gun, unless you have a ranch model you will want the raised cheek piece. I paid 15 bucks for the cheek piece. Ill let ya have everything for 60 bucks plus actuall shipping. If you are serious about it let me know and Ill post some actuall pictures of the stock. but for now heres a pic off of choates web page to give ya an idea of what the dragunov stock looks like.

I have the ranch model so I probably won't need the cheek piece, would you sell just the stock for less than that? How does that stock feel? I think they're ugly as crap but if I could be convinced that they handled well I might just give ya a shot.
