They seem to be a good stock, but I would never own one. The biggest draw back they have is that they are extremely heavy. You can get equal or better stocks that are 1 to 2 pounds lighter. I prefer McMillan and H-S Precision stocks any day over Choate's.
you are thinking of the ultimate series choate stocks for bolt actions and yes they are heavy. I think metal donnie is wanting something for his mini-14. the choate stocks for the mini-14's and sks' alike are actually quite light weight in comparison to other makes of stocks.
