I've use a Marlin 336 in 35 Rem my whole life. I like the added knockdown power over a 30-30. I don't shoot over 150 yards with it. I may resight for 200 yards with the new Hornady loads though.

Wow, Ridge, that's sounds like a cool gun! I've seen SOCOM rifles, one in 30-06, and boy is that an expensive gun! What brand of AR are you using? You got a pic?

A 12ga 3" or 3.5" Mag with at least a full choke if not an extra full choke. Shoot 000 buckshot and in a 3" Mag, it's like hitting them 14 .357 Magnums at once. I've knocked deer off their feet at 40-50 yds with 3" Mag 000. In heavy brush, with shots out to 50-70ydsit's all I use.Never had any need for the 30-30 in a 336 or a 94, as you might as well be shooting a single, cuase thats all you're going get anyways. Speaking of single shots, a H&R hadi-rifle in 45-70 would be a good "brush gun" (if there is such a thing), casue you're only going to get 1 shot, so you might as well make a a good one and hit them as hard as you possibly can.

Some one said in an ealier post, the object is to shoot around or pick the whole thru the brush, not just shoot thru it, hoping or depending on the bullet to bull or plow it way thru tot the target. Just ain't going to happen.
