RE: Hey Big Country

IMHO, the .323, .325;), .348, .35's are all a bit more obscure and kinda short on bullet selection.

.338, .375, .416, .475, and .510 dominate the "caliber slots."

I'd recommend the following as credible destinations for your next stop if proceeding upthe "toteable thumper" scale:

for the .338 slot: 338 WinMag, 340 Weatherby, 338 RUM, 338-378 Weatherby or
for the .375 slot: 375HH, 375 RUM, or378 Weatherby

Probably best to hold off on the .416's andfull strength .458'suntil you've cut your teeth on the above unless you're really feeling salty and looking for some high intensity entertainment.

I really dont mind the recoil. So that isnt a factor in my selection.

Speaking of the 375 H&H, Ihave a Sako M75 stainless/synthetic and topped it off with a Zeiss 3x12x56 Diavari and am very pleased with it's accuracy....typically shoots 3/4" groups. I mentioned this because the M75's are being replaced with the newer M85 CF model and good deals can be had presently on them.

Recentlygot a 6.5x284 and havent fired a round through it yet and just ordered a Sako TRG 42 in 338 Lapua yesterday to play with. I have quite a few custom rifles but now pretty much only buy higher end factory guns due to not losing as much money on them if and when I get rid of them.:D

Well then,in the .510 caliber slot, there is always the 500A2....
Not a wildcat.... SAAMI certified....
a 460 Weatherby necked up to .510, most neverneed a replacement barrel.

If you are willing to single feed them, you can always load 50 BMG bullets on them.
Let's see, a huntable rifle weighing in at 12 pounds (lighter if you prefer), no muzzlebrake....

375 H&H, as classic as a 30-06, and a puppy dog to shoot.

You’re a lucky man because if I got one just to play with, I don’t think I’d ever be able to step back in the house...
