I used a Remington model-700 BDL chambered in 375-R.U.M. forALL of my hunting one year. I used it the fall of 2005 & sold it for a new bow the spring of 2006. The gun shot great with my handloads. I just did not need the power it provided.
I will say this it was a fun gun to hunt with. Not to fun to sight-in off the bench. Not too bad to shot standing up.I learned to manage the recoil. This gun even made me shoot better. I now shoot with better off-hand form with all my rifles. EKM, helped me with the recoil issue. I would recommend a sims limbsaver reoil pad. I would not recommend a muzzle brake.
have fun with it,

I dont have first hand experience w/ any of the three 375's, but I was under the impression that the H&H and Ruger where not anywhere near the RUM? anyone w/ first had exp. w/ all of them? Just curious?

My only experience is with the 375 H&H.
The 375 RUM clearly trumpsboth the Rugerand the HHperformance wise; however, on the other hand:
It does NOT dominate the 375 H&H in the same fashion that:
- the 300 RUM dominates the 300WinMag or 300WSM, or
- the 338 RUM dominates the 338WinMag,
more, but not all THAT much more.
If I was wanting more power than the 375 H&H I wouldstep up to the 378 Weatherby. That said, the 375 H&H is a capable yet easy going thumperthat has a huge following world wide.
375 Ruger? For something brand new, I am thoroughly underwhelmed.... I'll stay with the 95 year old stuff.... Rifles like a 375 tend to travel far, far from home and the ammo isn't guaranteed to always come off the airline with the rifle, especially these days, thus commonality and universality become a virtue.

Have never shot the 375 RUM but I have both a 378 weatherby and a 375 h&h.
The 375 h &h is a great all around thumper and the kick is mild enough not to have a break. I like it alot.
The 378 weatherby on the other hand will do it all even long range shooting. But you will have to have a break. Like EKM said it would be the top of the 375 food chain.

Your average hunter will never burn out the barrel of a 338 RUM. Some dedicated target shooters might but the same guy will also burn out his 300 win barrel too. Don't worry so much about burning out your barrel, if you do consider it earned!

EKM - thanks for the reply, that pretty much what I'd surmised, but I didnt have any first hand exp. w/ any of them. I also heard that the 375 RUM was "milder" kicking than the 338 RUM because of the speed of the recoil, 375 more force, but more of a push, while the 338 is a very snappy type of kicker.

You said you reload right? A lot of people are touting the new ruger375, which is loaded by hornady, but I would check on powders before getting one. Some of the newer rounds from hornady are using their "wonder" powders. Replicating their velocities might be an issue.
