Im a huge fan of the 300 rum. I bought one and am glad i done so
I am a huge fan of the RUM. I have had three. But I liked it for moose hunting. I am curious why you are glad you done so. I see so many people under the age of 21 getting one for killing deer, and I have to ask why?

If you have a Gander Mountain near you, they have lots of ammo there, I even saw a box of .375 RUM.(Talk about scary looking cartridges!)

Not try'in to sound like a jerk, but if you have to ask why you will never understand.

Why does a 40 year old guy need a mustang that's got 400 horsepower.

If I ever have to do long-range shooting very often, I'll not use a .308 Win, I'd probably get a 7mm Rem Mag. Or, if the RUM cartridges don't go the way of the wildcat, I'll get one, maybe the 7mm RUM.

What are you talkin bout killin deer with a 300 RUM? Thats my Squirell gun. A 30-06 just wont get them as dead as the 300 RUM.

You're not kidding, I use my .458 RUM (wildcat)on the Coues deer, but on those REAL whitetails, I bring along my .460 Weatherby. How the heck are you going to kill deer without having AT LEAST 99 pounds of recoil?

You guys must be on crack or something!

You got it all wrong. The 300 RUM is the Squirel gun. I use a .22 Mag on deer and moose.

Actually I have to agree that the Remington 300 UM is not a gun for the beginner or faint of heart. The felt recoil is 42.6 pounds.

The gun can hurt you if not shouldered correctly with that recoil. I own both the 300 RUM AND THE 338 RUM both in the Sendero models. It is little difference in velocities and little difference in recoil the 338 is 43.4 pounds of felt recoil but they haveunbelievable stopping power at long ranges.

The velocities from the muzzle on each gun do not vary much. The 300 comes in around3480 and the 338 comes in around 3510 but theenergies and trajectories are unreal on either. They are easily some of the flatest shootingand hardest hitting 30 calibers available.
