Re: SMLE
A SMLE is usually considered to be a No1MkIII rifle. The closest I have to a SMLE is a No1MKIII* grenade launching rifle. A purist wouldn't consider this a SMLE because it was made in India, but for all practical purposes it is a SMLE.

K-31
Here's a picture of a K-31 that currently wears the scope mount rig

Did I mention that I paid $59 for this particular rifle and it shoots MOA?

What's the SMLE?
The Lee-Enfield. Short, Magazine, Lee-Enfield.
A "short" (relatively speaking) rifle.
A rifle with a MAGAZINE.
A rifle with a Lee action (James Paris Lee).
A rifle originally made for the Crown at Enfield Lock, England.

Can it hold 10 rounds?

Actually I love all military bolt actions. Both the actual combat rifles as well as their 22 LR training modles. Here's a pic of my Enfield 22LR trainers.

The bolt looks funny, like a T-bolt or something.

Its a straight pull bolt action. The bolt locks up like any other 90 degree bolt action, but the bolt sleeve has a cam machined into to turn back and forth motion into rotating locking motion when the bolt is closed.

If I showed you a picture of the the trigger mechanism its equally interesting- it has 3 or 4 links and levers in it, its an interesting piece of engineering but an outstanding trigger for a military rifle.

SMLE has a detachable 10-round box magazine. The magazinewas usually charged usingTWO five-round stripper clips that allow loading 10 rounds through the top of the action when the bolt is open-like a 98 Mauser or 1903 Springfield, but it takes two clips instead of one.

However, the magazine can also be loaded when it is detached from the rifle as well.
