Default Remington 700 VLS

I'm looking into a varmit rifle for mainly groundhogs, but maybe coyotes in future years and I'm leaning towards the 700 VLS in 22-250. I looked at one at the local Gander Mountain, it looks pretty good, but I figured I would ask for some advice/recommendations before I went too much further in the process. I looked at a Savage or two, but I wasn't overly impressed with their overall looks. Also, I would like to keep the price under $800 for the rifle, but preferably less if possible.

Any advice you can offer me on possible rifles to look at would be greatly appreciated.

I'm considering buying one in 6mm for my "wolf rifle". Those are some pretty impressive groups. Do you have any idea what your rifle weighs as it is set up?

I had the 700 VS in 22.250 in a lefty configuration and it gave the same results cma 's with Hornady's 55gr moly factory fodder.
Although I would touch a Remington shotgun , I can't say enough praise for any of the 700 centerfire guns I've owned

I also have the VLS chambered for the 6 mm and I’m looking forward in trying different loads to see how it will perform. Cma3366a, I appreciated your review on the VLS...

I've heard good things about the Howa Varminter rifles. I've entertained the thought of buying one myself. The ones I've handled have all felt great, and they're usually priced decently.

Those Howa rifles look pretty interesting. Anybody else have experience with them or the 700?
