Impossible for anybody to tell you with certainity asthe only way is trail and error. Every rifle is different!

The 150gr bulletmaybe be the flatest due to MV it produces but in your rifle the 165gr bullet might prove more accurate. Therefor you would be better suited shooting the 165gr bullet and learning how to compensate for longer distance shots.

You'll have to look at matching bullet/gr sizes to usage andtry them.

Generally depending on the twist, most poeple get optimal accuracy with 165/168gr bullets out of a 30-06 or even 308. But depends on your twist mainly.

Generally speaking,

I would say you would get the most accuracy out of a bullet that isn't effected by wind drift that much.

Therefore, maybe go for high ballistic coefficient and high velocity. Which ever grainage gives you the best balance of those go for that.

What do you mean by "long range"? Are you shooting targets, or are you hunting?? Both of these have an influence on what's best.

The 168-grain Sierra Matchking is used the most for competiton shooting out to 300 meters. Beyond that range, the 200-grain, 220-grain and 240-grain Matchkings take over. The 240 requires a twist faster than 1/10", however.

However, if you are talking about hunting, a 190 or 200-grain spitzer boattail softpoint would be about the best you could choose, as it bucks wind better than anything lighter. I'm talking about 500 yards and beyond. Anything less than 400 yards is NOT long range......

168-grain Sierra Matchking ..ill plan to shoot them...but how much are they per box and will they have avalibility at my local hunting store???

My standard long-range target load for the .30/'06 is the 200-grain Sierra Matchking bullet and 59 grains of H4831. It gives a muzzle velocity of just about 2700 FPS in a 26" barrel, and is very accurate at ranges of up to 600 meters, which is as far as I have tested it........

I buy bullets online, as few local shops carry the strange stuff I need! GRAF'S is about the cheapest, and THEY pay shipping!!

For 500 meter silhouettes I used the 190 grain Hornad BTHP Match bullets. The extra weight was importand to knock the targets down. For accuracy only the 168 BTHP Hornady match was a bit more accurate in my rifle. I was however shooting a 308 not the 06.
