Bushnell Elite Scopes vs. Leuopold VX or Vari-X
Anybody have any experience with both Bushnell Elite 3200 or 4200 scopes AND Leuopold VX or Vari-X scopes? Comparisons, likes, and dislikes would be great.

I have used 3000's,3200's and 4000's,4200's and vari x ii's and vari x iii's.I have never had a problem with any of them but believe the bushnells to be possibly brighter.I also believe the bushnells to be a much better buy as they are priced quite a bit lower than the leupolds.

I have had the XII and XIII, now I own the elite 3200 in 50mm. I like the elite much more than the leupold. It's hard to fog the elite and thats important when hunting in cold wheather. The only way I foged it was when I put my mouth right against the lens sitting in the stand in 25 degree wheather and it steemed for just a second and went right away. Also it's much brighter. I like it.

Speaking from experience....
I have a 4200 Elite 1.5 to 6 on a Ruger Express 77 Mk11 300 Win Mag.
I have a Leupold VX 111 1.5 to 5 on a Win M. 70 7mm.08.
I have a Leupold VX 111 2.5 to 8 on a Win M. 70 300 WSM.
Bushnell is a bit brighter and Rainguard definitely works well.
Bushnell has shorter eye relief and is bigger & heavier.
Leupold has excellent eye relief and is compact & light.
Leupold does not have anti fog or rain sheeting.
Both have equally good warranties.
The Bushnell was an experiment with me and although I like it OK, I'll probably not buy another because of the eye relief and size. The VX111 is my preference. I've never had a problem with it fogging or with so much rain on the lense I couldn't site. I love the compactness, the eye relief, the ruggedness.
If $$$$$$ is a big part of the decision go with the Bushnel Elite, you'll never be unhappy with this scope. gg.

lance...I "HAD" a 3200 on a .300 Weatherby. Shot about 30 rounds through it and the crosshairs broke!! I thought it was a quality scope...WRONG! I sent it back to Bushnell 3 months ago and I'm still waiting! This is my first and last Bushnell,I always used Leupold and never had any problems. Ziess Conquest is a great scope,I think I'll give it a try on my .300...<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

I have a 3200 5 x 15 x 50 on my .300 RUM and haven't had any problems with it. I've shot this rifle a lot because I'm always "fiddling" with my bullets. I do own one Leupold scope, but it isn't a fancy one so there really isn't any comparison. If I ever replace my 3200, it will be with the 4200 series that MR300WM is using. The biggest drawback is their mass. They are a bit bulky.

For 600 smacks I would look at either a 4200, Zeiss Conquest, Burris Signature Series or Loopy Varix III(although it might be out of that price range, not sure?).
