I would def take it back if I were you. On another note, I've been looking into the Genesis myself. I'd like to hear your impressions of it (besides the pitting issue). Also what it shoots like if you've had the chance to put a few rounds thru it. Thanks!

I am going to take it back tomorrow which is a whole new project since I purchased it at Cabelas in Hamburg PA. It is about 110 miles one wayfrom my house and takes about an hour and a half to get there. I would justship back the old one but they by law can not ship a muzzle loader to NJ (what a joke) so I am stuck taking it back. So lets look at it this way this ordeal cost me an 440 miles X $2.20 pergallon @10 miles per gallon =$96.00 + 12.00 in tolls for a grand total of $394.00

If it were me, I would take it back, get a refund and then buy a used Savage 10ML-II for about the same price and then you will have the best. Or you can bring it back, ask for it to be replaced and then thoroughly inspect the new one.
