Ring height for Encore
#1
I have a 3x9-40 scope going on a Encore barrel. Im going with Burris or Leupold DD bases. Do you guys know if I can get away with low rings or do I need med.?

Medium is great for anything up to 44mm objective, but some like to put high so they have more room with the hammer. 50mm gets little tight with mediums. If you have a hammer extention, some like to put low's on, but too tight at the bell for my taste. Go Mediums. Also consider how the stock fits your face. My encore stock and my cheek also perfer mediums to line up with my eyes.

I have the mediums with a 44mm scope on my ML barrel. It has standard base with the standard Leupold rings. Its down pretty close to the barrel and feels fine. I guess I wasnt sure if the DD's ran the exact same heights as the STD rings\bases.

I have a Talley one-piece base/rings on mine. I think its a high, might even be x-high. Scope is a LeupoldIII 50mm. Plenty of space, but not so much as to be excessive. Gun shoots better than I ever will be able to.

With the Leupold DD base/rings.. you'll want to stay with medium rings... they will put the bell of your scope objective just slightly (1/16" at most) above the barrel of your encore.
