Default .270 cartridge

What cartridge isgood for whitetail. I have my .270 sighted in and currently using 130gr. Winchester Supreme Ballistic Tips. Will these be okay, or do you guys recommend something different? Thanks in advance.

I just use regular core lokts for white tail, no need for premium ammo.

I have used the 130gr bullets for years on deer. My dad likes the 150gr in the silvertips and I like the 130gr in Core Lokts, although I have also had good luck with Power Points. Since you have your gun sighted in for a 130gr bullet I would just stick with that. Core Lokts work great. Never had a deer move more than 3 feet after being shot with one.

For whitetail sized game the CoreLokt is perfect.
Save a lot of cash too.

Premium bullets are great butI would rather see someone spend thier money on optics and practice.

My 270 will never see anything except the 130 grain Federal Fusions. I quit reloading for that gun. The terminal perfrmance is fantastic and they shoot under one inch at 100 yards.

I may take a look at those federal fusions. Is there any specific type?

The Balistic Silvertips are plent for deer. I use them in everything frommy 243 to my 325 WSM. They work great in most rifles except they dont like to feed in semi auto rifles.

So the rapid expansion of the Ballistic tips isn't something to worry about.

The expansion from them out of a 270 is made for deer and similar game. The smaller rounds like 223 and 22-250 are ment for varmints. I shot most of my deer with a 270 or 30-06 using Balistic Silvertips. And one or two with a 243 using Balistic Silvertips. You should not have any problems with them.
