When dealing with cheaper imported shotguns such as these, the question is really what maker gives you the most features? Like, choke tubes, stock type and quality and so on. All of them will perform well. The side by side is one of the oldest designs in gun making and the technology is perfected. I really dont think you could go wrong with any of those when looking for a basic side by side. EJ

I’m not sure if the Baikal would fall with in your price range but I have one in the .410 and find it’s an excellent sxs shotgun that handles very well. Great little gun for hunting heavy cover. I like the simple oil finish on this particular shotgun. No high gloss and easy to refinish if need be. You do have the option of changing shooting sequence. Overall it’s a great little gun except for one thing, is the safety resets it’s self every time you open the action...

I’m not sure south of the border but I found this location in Canada. Maybe you can contact them for a distributor in the USA unless someone else would know. You can check this site for additional info. www.baikalcanada.com/home.htm

Had a chance to look at Remington's web site and the 410 sxs on this web page sure looks like the one I have with the blued receiver.

daleh, before you by anything do yourself a favor and at least look at & handle a HUGLU. The quality is WAY above the others mentioned and only runs about 650$. The action screws are even timed so all slots are nthe same direction. It can compete with guns in the 1500$ range for quality.
