.243 for deer

Roskoe. I think in the case of the 270, the TSX will do both deer and elk quite well. I havn't used the 270 on elk since the TXS came out but I did have good results with the Nosler Partition and I think the TXS might be even better.
I don't know if they still make it but the best bullet I ever used in the 243 for deer was the 95 grain Nosler Partition Semi Spitzer.

The TSX is one bullet I have not personally tried yet. I used theoriginal Barnes X in the 95 gr. 6MM-284, and the 165 gr. .300 Win Mag. Both of these bullets gave at least 50% more penetration than just about anything I had used up to that point, and did so at the expense of a fairly small wound channel. Neither were very good killers on broadside rib shots - although in each instance the animal did finally die. The shot that really impressed me with these original Barnes X's was the straight on shot - end for end - bang/flop.
They tell me these new TSX bullets are constructed a little differently from the original Barnes X. I probably need to give them a try

WO now..Don't put down a .243, i use a .300 but i killed plenty of deer at 100-200 yards with a .243 and never had to wlak that far for 1. I say a good .243 with a good scope is one of the best deer rifles they make. I dont varmint hunt to much so i dont know about that.
