how much are you willing to spend on a .223?
That is probably the best question to ask before offering gun suggestions.

Default I would prefer a savage!

I have a Savage 10FP law enforcement series .223 heavy barrel rifle. Its a very accurate gun. well its for the swat team and such so of course it has to be accurate. its a sniper rifle basically! lol. the .223 is also what the military uses in their rifles. a M-16 is calibered for the .223. that is my opinion and i would reccomend. it lays out mostly groups of .5" and less most of the time sometimes there is a few thats about 1" off at 200 yards which isnt bad at all!

I would scrap the Remington and Howa and go with a Thompson Encore. For accuracy, I would use a Match Grade Machine custom barrel in 223. This would give you more versatility if you ever wanted to change barrels (calibers) and use the gun for something else.
I have a TC Encore with a factory SS heavy barrel in 223. It's a tackdriver right out of the box.An EA Brown custom barrel in 280Rem is right around the corner though!

Either Howa or Remingtons are great rifles. Just try out both and see which one fits you best.

i dont know why everyone is making it sound like Howa and Remington is really great... im not saying their not but in my experience and knowlege Savage is the best way to go. Cheap and very very accurate out of the box!
