Stevens 200 or charles daly 98?
#1
Looking at buying either a stevens 200 or charles daly 98 in a .308 for both. The prices are almost identical for new. I like the stock of the daly better because of the cheekpiece. Any opions which is the better of the two. The daly has been discontinued, but is the same gun as the now Remington 798. Thanks.

20GADBL,all these guns are great for the money, but I would have to go with the Stevens 200.All the Remington 798 that I have seen have been in the mid 400.00 price range.the stevens can be bought all day for under 300.00 dollars and is bassicaly a Savage 110 that has been around for almost 50 years.A local chain store had the stevens on sale last week for 259.00 with a 4x Bushnell scope, only in 270 or 30/06 though. But still a great buy for a cheap rifle that will last a life time

I guess I will be the first to say go with the Charles Daly. I am very impressed with these guns, I want one in 22-250. I am not saying that the Stevens is a bad gun, but how can you go wrong with a Mauser action. These are the same guns that were made and sold as Interarms Mark X's and they have a wonderful reputation.
