Well, if that's the case, I guess my 2005 Rem 700 Mtn LSS 7mm-08 sucks too! It will only shoot sub MOA (avg 3/4" @ 100YDs) with 5 of the 7 loads I've developed for it with the remaining 2 loads shooting about 1 1/4".

Guess I need to toss this one in the trash can and find an older model.

PS: I just hope I screwed up as bad with my new 7600 as I did with the Mtn LSS.:D

I cleary put that was my expericence with the newer 700's. You may not keep hearing probs with 700's if it werent true. I know my experience reloading for them and buds having to return them because they wouldn't shoot factory or reload ammo at all.

Local smith says he's never had so much trouble with Rem's until the last 5-6 years or so with the Boltfaces being out of alignment compared to the ones in the past.

10$ trigger job thats great, they're about 40-50bucks where Im at.

My expierence after 40 or so 700 Remingtons Including a couple of the new SPS's would lead me to say that the above statements on the 700 Remington is the biggest load of bunk I have ever read here. Every one I have ever owned, Old or New has shot under an inch when its prefered load was found. Usually the first load I tried. Almost always with Corlokts. Guess its strange how expierences differ. Besides owning close to 50 of them, I have sold another 200 or so when I had my gun shop. Never had to send one back which is more than I can say for most brands.

Biggest load of garbage I've read, you are not expressing your "experience", you are just looking to argue, I have had about 23 Remington 700's and haven't ever had a problem.

No C111 Im just giving my expericence's. Just because I have a different opinion on a brand of gun than you and some others doesnt mean I just want to argue with everyone. Im not disagreeing with any of the other post's, just passing on what Ive done and seen.

Sorry, new guy on the block but seems no one touched on this question or I plain missed it skimming along, so allow me. You've missed a few more common issues, stock bedding and possible crown damage. Not overly familar with your particular rifle brand, I'm more of a Savage kinda guy, but if your stock is warped or pressing on the barrel it can cause erratic accuracy. If it's suppose to be fully floated, try the old school method of passing a single wrapped dollar bill down the length to check for any binding. If so, you should remove what's causing the bind, sometimes on a wood stock it's as simple as a bit of a sealant bubble. A simple nick on the muzzle crown can also cause havoc, or damaged lands and grooves at the muzzle. Since you've tried mulitple brands of ammo and a few different scopes, I'd look here next before scraping it out for something new, unless it's your excuse to the missus. :D

I've had three 7-08's. A Browning Micro Hunter, a Sako 75, and currently a model 7.The Sako was my favorite but a little big and heavy. Kind of defeated the purpose of a short action rifle in my thinking so I traded it. My model seven I like a lot. I bought the youth model and put a HS Precision stock on it. With my handloads with 130gr speer bullets it groups easily under an inch. It's short and lite witha 2-7 Leupold scope on it.

My 700 CDL in 7-08 is one of the best out-of-the-box shooters I've ever had. A little load development has made it my current sweetheart.

None of these guys complained about my gun being ugly! Actually I shot all these with my Remington 700. They didn't say it sucked either!
