I've got a 700 in 270 that's close to twenty yrs old.The rifle's been glass bedded and has a timney trigger. It used to shoot close to moa but now I'm lucky to get 3"grps at 100.I've tried several diff ammos and they all spray. This gun has been shot a good bit and has seen it's share of hot handloads.Any ideas?Would it be worth the $250 or so to send it to someone for accurizing? Thanks

Well I haven't checked the bases but the rings are as snug as they were 15yrs ago when I put them on with loc-tite.This rifle's rode beside me in the truck many miles and I suspect the crown may be damaged.Would this cause accuracy to suffer this much, and is there a way to tell if the crown is damaged with the naked eye?I don't have a gunsmith anywhere around here that I trust.

If the crown is damaged, your lucky it didn't affect it more, I have seen some really good guns ruined, just because of slight damage to the crown. They went from Sub-MOA to 5" groups.
