I am sighting in my 1187 with open sightsthat has been sitting in my gun cabinet for the last 5 yrs.
My question is do I move the back sight up if my last shot was high or lower the back sight?
Same question for moving the back sight left or right.

Rear sight moves opposite the point of impact.

Front sight moves toward the point of impact.

If you're shooting high, move the rear sight down and if you're shooting to the right, move the rear sight to the left. Just like kelbro said. The rear goes the opposite of the way the bullet is going.

Remember it this way. Just move the back sight towards where you want the the bullet to hit. Therefore, if you're shooting right move the sight left.
