Barrel Change ? Rem. 700
I have a remington 700 in 243, how hard would it be and what would I have to do to put a .308 barrel on it.. Could I do it myself or is it more technical than just unscrewing the old barrel and screwing on the new? Thanks for any advice...

If its the only rebarreling that you plan on doing, have a gunsmith do it.
You need or need to be concerned about:
-A receiver wrench
-a barrel vise
-headspace guages
-a chamber reamer
(all of the above will cost you more than having a professional do it)
-Indexing the recoil lug correctly
-reaming the chamber for proper headspace(if you screw this up, you'll either have a dangerous rifle or you'll need to be handy with a lathe to correct the problem)
An extra advantage of taking the rifle to a gunsmith is that for more $$ you can have the action lapped and trued for better accuracy.

For hunting barrels, I have had E.R. Shaw rebarrel several rifles for me. All were top totch shooters. Their prices were very fair as well. I think they have a webb site.
