I use Federal classic rifled slugs with my mossberg 12 ga. smooth bore with improved choke. It's about $2.00 per box of five.
Makes baseball sized groups at 75 yards.

eddie....
first you have to think.. how far are my shots gonna get out too?
i only use shotguns in my state because that is what you can only use here in MA.most of my shots are under 75yds but average would be around 30yds. we also do drive ( which i don't really call hunting but that's how you have to get them to move )
i use my late grandfather's win model 12 3" mag with a 30" full barrel. with brenneke slugs and winchster magnum copper plated 00 or 000 buckshot. i also use my rem 1100 2.75" with lead slugs or brenneke's and 000 buckshot.
i have used the rem copper sloids before they changed there design and for what my ranges were went i shot deer with it ( under 75yds ) was not worth the $9.00 a box for them ( when i used my 21" rifled barrel )
brenneke slugs $4.99 a box, winchester magnum copper plated buckshot $3.99 a box.

Of the guys shooting smoothbores in our bunch, regular Brennekes get the nod and all are accurate out at 100 yds. 2 Benellis, 1 1100, 1 Winchester pump, 1 Mossburg pump.
Rifled barrels, Savage bolt with Lyman reloads, 1 A5 with Remington Copper Solids, (Hastings says no but he's too cheap to forego the 3 or 4 boxes he has), 11-87 with Lightfields.
I use Hornady H2K sabots which are about 10 bucks a box, but they let me take advantage of the open field and 5 H2Ks will shoot inside a 3 inch circle at 200 yds. 1100 with old Hastings barrel has nailed 7 deer in last 3 yrs. between 100 and 200 yds.
