Is this Remington 700 VS SF Worth it?
Hi folks,
New here, but thought I'd might be able to get some insight. Currently bidding on a Rem 700 VS SF.308 whichhas apparently never been fired though it was purchased in '95. He wants at least $800 CDN for it. Is this a good deal or should I be looking elsewhere...
Any suggestions on a reasonably priced scope would be appreciated as well. Looking at mostly range and a limited amount of deer use.
Thanks for any advice!

I agree,
I just priced out a VSSF-II for about 850-900 USD as a good price. If the gun does not come with lots of extras, I think I would like a new gun myself. In fact in my opinion Guns have gotten nothing but better over the last few years. Go New!
Is gun scoped? Mounts? Sling? Bipod? Ammo?

The VssF and sendero have came along way. The newer improved stocks are the biggest change. Plus the new ones have the black flutes, which look awesome and match a black scope better. And for about the same price, it's a no brainer, go new! The Varmint and sendero models are awesome shooters and have a great feel. They are built for reducing recoil also, and do a good job of that.

Hey guys,
Thanks forthe input! Around here, a new VS SF will run about $1250 CDN taxes in w/o shipping (that's the best price I've been quoted anyway), so it's that difference in price I've been using as a gauge.
It doesn't appear to come with any extras andit isa fair chunk of coin to put down on a2nd hand rifle -if it had been used, I wouldn't consider it, though from what he says that's not the case.
That said, perhapsthere's somewhere south of the border that could offer a better deal?
I've attached some pics for consideration.
Thanks again!

I don't know if this is fact or not but I've heard that to bring firearms across the border into Canada you have to pay a $60 administration fee and fill out paper work. In your case you'd also have to pay taxes. I don't know how shipping it would go.

Hey statjunk,
I know that's the case if you were coming up from the U.S. to do some hunting in Canada but I'm not sure if it applies to purchases...
Of course, the cost to ship from the States could nullify any cost savings...
Maybe i'll just get a 710...perish the thought

Well...decided against buying a rifle I couldn't hold before buying so I'm eyeing the Savage models - particularly the 10FP.
Question though: they no longer make the 10FP-LE2 but only a 10FP. Anyone know what the difference is between the models?
Thx!

Savage is okay, but there are a lot of other choices in the same price range. I have found Ruger, Tikka, Remington, Winchester, and Weatherby all in the same range. Look around it could be worth it...
