What happened? Was he gored by an angry elk that he tried to kill with a .243?

I could be totally off based and am treading lightly. But I heard he was terminally ill. I try to respect the dead.

.243 is a spectacular elk round!
I have killed more elk with a .243 than my .300 WSM, .325 WSM, and .338 RUM combined. I have over 40 years of guidIng experience in Montana and really glad when a client shows up with a .243 instead of of a .300 Win Mag. The key to bringing down elk it's good bullets, patience, and shot placement. Wish you the best of luck!
