I would NEVER shoot a 30-06. The 270 has just as much power. Great rifle. It is my favorite along with the 7mm.

Come on guys, Any high power rifle(.243 and up)in the hands of a good shooter will take a whitetail. If He is hit right he will go down. There is no magic to it just good marksmenship. Learn to shoot your perspective rile as good as you can and the rest will take care of its self.

I agree with that^, but who said that a 30-06 or a 270 is over sized for deer? I believe in too much also, and happen to be a pretty decent shot, but anything between 30 and 6.5 mm is a no brainer for deer. I agree that any kind of magnum 27cal and up is really not needed until range comes into affect.
