The only thing the .243 gives up to the 25-06 is SPEED,FT/LBS and TRAJECTORY other than that they are pretty close.
I'll vote again for the 25-06 REM.

This isn't Chicago. You only get to vote once. ;)

The .25-06 does have slight ballistic advantages, but, with weight and recoil penalties.Comparing the most common deer load for the two (100 gr. .243 v. 120 gr. .25-06), the trajectory is within about 1/4 inch from the muzzle all the way to 500 yards. And, you can't get the .25-06 in a compact short-action rifle like the Remington Model 7, which I think is ideal for this guy's application.

I need this type of rifle too. I'm looking into a Stevens .223. I don't need anything for deer, I have my 7mm RM too.

Actually Ty...That's the beauty of a .243...

Have you thought much about a 308?? You can buy cheap Milt ammo for about $40 for 250rds and you can also carry a few good deer round if needed. I really hate to toot my own horn but I am also selling a Howa in that calaiber if you interested. Thanks Jovan
