General Purpose Rifle
I just got 75 acres and so I wanted to get a good rifle that I can use for about anything in GA. I've got a 7mm mag for Deer hunting. What I want is a gun that I can carry around and if I need to shoot something I can. I'd like it to be inexpensive to shoot, good for varmints, and still able to take out a deer if I need to. Been a while since I've posted, so I hope everyone's doing ok.

RE: General Purpose Rifle
how about a stevens model 200 in .25-06 , the stevens is just a plain jane no frills savage 110/111 and the stevens is a very affordable rifle as well . savage makes very acurate rifles and the stevens should follow suite , and the .25-06 is enough for deer ( from what i can tell , that's what your looking to hunt at the upper end and can be loaded light enough for varmints.

Sounds like you need a Marlin 1894 in 357. Shoots 38 Spcl and 357 mag, both of which are cheap. Lightweight gun, that holds 10 rounds. Very easy to cary. Works well on squirrel, groundhog with 38. 357's handle deer and boar out +/- 100 yds with ease.
Good luck!

To carry around with you how about a good old 30-30. It is light weight, easy to carry, rugged, and will kill anything you need out there.

223 is an option if you are super cheap, but I sure do flinchat the idea ofrecommending them for any use on deer.
