Perhaps a dream here, but does anyone make a 1911 style handgun with a 6"(or greater) barrell and in .44(or suitable deer caliber)? Would like to get a handgun that will do for hunting plus carry a little tighter than a large frame revolver. Thanks!

Buy you a cheap Springfield 1911 model 45. Then put a 460 Rowland Kit on it. It carries the same punch as a 44 mag but in an auto platform. As a plus you can shoot 45 ACP in the same gun in the same clip.

That should give you plenty of reading material for a while.

There are still companies making the .44 auto mag. It was not excepted when it first came out but there is still some intrest in them. check out www.wildey.com they are making some very interesting auto's. I have often wondered why the 10mm never caught on like the .40 did it is almost the same round. 10mm = .40in. ? I have heard some say I love my .40 it shoots great , I traded my 10mm in on it ?????? Okay!!!!And its alot more powerful---What!!!! Good luck finding one let us know if you do.
