180 or 168 tsx in 300 WSM
Going to Colorado for a Mule Deer/Elk in late October. I will be using a Winchester Model-70 super shadow in 300 wsm. I will be reloading, and will be using Barnes TSX bullets. My question is what weight bullet would be better for the task at hand, the 180 gn, or the 168 gn? Also, looking for some load info for the recommended bullet weight..Thanks in advance with any suggestions..

Either bullet will do a very good job. See which shoots best in your gun and use it. I would lean toward the 168 in the Barnes. You can expect them to perform like a bullet one size heavier. The 168 Barnes will out penetrate almost any standard 180 grain bullet.

I would use the 180gr. Also, Midway now has plenty of the 180gr MRXs. I have started loading these and they seem to be a big improvement over the TSX. If you contact Ty over at Barnes, he will email you load data.

Thanks for the feedack, I think I will go with the 168 gn TSX. Any suggestions on powder? Barnes recommended RL-15 with 53 gn @ 2831 to start, and 58.5 @ 3060 as a max for the most accurate in the 165/168 TSX.
