havnt u ever considered synthetic...? Thats what i got mine in although it is a rem. (i dont know what they look like in that version) but i looks great.

I still like the timeless classic,30-30. [8D]

There is just something special about an old lever gun. It's got that historic "vibe" factor going for it. Plus it has killed many many many deer more than any other cartridge around.

I love mine in the heavy brush and thick woods, where my shot might not even be 50 yards.

My old Marlin 30-30 is equally at home/deer camp with the other guys' gigantic, ultra-magnum-thunder-boomers. :D

I'm glad to hear the good reviews of the 7600, I just bought one in .308 (my favorite whitetail caliber).

Of all your caliber choices I would choose the venerable 06, hard to go wrong with a proven winner. Personally, I use my model 700 in 300 Win Mag.
