I’m looking to buy a nice semi auto shotgun that will last me rest of my Life. Im having a hard time not knowing guns very well and what exactly I’m looking at as far as quality and performance. I’m looking for 12ga 28” barrel, wood stock, interchangeable chokes; I would like it to accept a slug barrel but not a necessity. I only will ever shoot 2/34” and 3”. I prefer fancy Gloss Stock and engraving ect., but willing to sacrifice for quality. Id like stay in 6-1000$ range.
I like all these guns but wanted to get other opinions on there quality and performance/ pros and cons of each before made decisions.

Dad has a Remington 11-87 premier. He does not use it. I do!!
I like it because I can drag it through the rain and mud and it keeps right on shooting.
If you would like a "spiffy" line, you could try the 11-87 gold premier.
My "well heeled" uncle belongs to a gun club that costs a "few thousand" per year in memberships... IF you can get in. Membership is be invitation ONLY. rather snooty crowd! well anyway, to make a "long story short" he uses an 11-87 gold premier at their skeet shoots. They are using those sweetly boxed, o/u dbl barrel shotguns with three different choked sets of barrels, engraving, etc. all packaged in a beautiful hardwood case, blather, blather, etc.!!!!
They get pissed 'cause he routinely outshoots them (and their $6k shotguns) with his "damn redneck shotgun"!
He also hunts geese and ducks like a fiend. He uses this same 11-87. He pretty much swears by it.
as do two of my cousins that hunt with him with there own 11-87's
My uncle was a "goose-guide" for a number of years on the "eastern shore". He tried numerous guns... he settled on the 11-87... oh well, guess you see where I stand on shotguns!
IF it ever jambs. I can field-strip the whole gun in 45 seconds without ANY tools. wipe it off with my t-shirt, stick it back together, and start shooting again!

Thanks Country boy, My brother has a beautiful older 1100 but he always having problems with cloged ports and it wont shoot low brass.
I hear mixed reviws on quality and reliability of the 1187 model.
Thanks Ill go back check them out again.

1187 is the way to go and you will save some money also.if your brother is having problem with cloged ports, its his fault not the guns.as with any gas ported semi auto shotgun, they must be kepted clean.

If this is going to be your "last" shotgun, why not save up and purchase a nice o/u rather than a autoloader unless you're recoil sensative. Personally my "last" shotgun was 3 or 4 shotguns ago. I can't help it , I love nice shotguns and will always get another as my finances allow. As of right now 9 and counting.

If your upper limit is 1000 dollars look at the Benelli shotguns any of them...Simplest design,Best recoil system on the market and the best quality control standards period end of story. They are pricey but worth every penny.
