Default HELP- Looking for advice/ barrel for my Rem. 11-87

I bow hunt more often than gun, and I've only one gun (wife isn't a big fan of many guns in the house ) Here in NJ we cannot hunt with Rifles and my Rem 11-87 has a smooth barrel that I use for shot/small game. I want to get a rifled barrel so I can shoot slugs w/scope when deer hunting because I'm looking for more "reach out and touch" than my 000 allows for a hunting trip I'm going on in VA. Is the 20-21" replacement barrel offered by remington is my only option if I don't want to (can't) buy another gun? Thanks for the help.

P.S. - I figure that it is easier for me to sneak a barrel into the house than another gun

I just put a rifled slug barrel on my 11-87. I bought the remington barrel, and I like it alot. You can get them from Cabelas for $190 plus shipping. Shipping is $11 I think. There are other knock-offs out there, but, I am not one to skimp when it comes to my guns. Good luck.

You definitely want to get the cantilever barrel. Fully rifled accuracy and the scope stays on the barrel so you can switch from season to season without re-mounting it or going through a lengthy sighting in process. In the eight or so years I've had mine I've never made more than a slight adjustment from where I originally sighted it in at.

The Hastings on my 1100 lays 3 regular Brennekes touching at 100 yds.

It puts 5 Hornady H2K sabots inside a 3 inch circle at 200 yds.
