the best is the best and it's not relevant how old the guy is.....It's the 260 Remington and if one just finds it packaged in a Remington M-7 CDL it's about as good as it gets.....for kids 14 to 84...makes little difference.

I'm 50, and my "Go to" rifle is a 6.5x55SE. That being said, 7mm-08 or 260 are also great choices. Depends on what ammo is easily available out there. Don't overlook the .308 either as the recoil is not that far off the 7mm-08. In guns, the Tikka Lite is nice in 7mm-08, or 6.5X55SE. The Browning BLR 81 Lightweight is great for the .308, and I think it also comes in 7mm-08. You pretty much have to go to Remingtonfor the .260.

Don't overlook Savage rifles either.

Being 57 and with many shoulder injuries ,I think he should stick to the smaller calibers as recommended .260 or .270.
I also use Federal premium bullets and never losr a deer yet.

If you could still find one like this it may be a tad better.I like the looks of the cdl too.
