Boycott Wal-Mart
#41
You know, I read these replies on how Wal-Mart has hurt the economy of many in our society, like the mom&pops.
When I moved to the small community of Lutz, Fl in 1967, we had a wonderful mom&pops restaurant, we had a small train station,we had our small post office, we had a small drug store, we had a small store that was the Greyhound Bus half way house, we had a hardware store that we bought all of our guns and ammo, we had one gas station were many would gather to play checkers and fellowship with each other, we had one mechanic that worked on cars, trucks, tractors, lawnmowers and motor cycles, but all that is all gone!
If we decide to boycott Wal-Mart, why don't we boycott K-Mart, Dollar General,Mc Donalds, Burger King, IHOP, KFC, Popeyes, Golden Coral, etc, etc, etc,Walgreens, CVS, Winn-Dixie, Publix, Kash&Karry, all the national Muffler Shops, all the Tire shops, Sports Authorities, all the Big Name gas companies Convenient Food Marts, etc, etc, etc? These are the ones who have eliminated all the mom&pops in our country, not just WaL-Mart!

ShatoDavis,
My apologies for using common sense. Maybe I'll try being more like a liberal. They have no common sense. How's this?- Walmart, war, Tsunami, Katrina, gas prices, crime, CEO salaries, bird flu, CWD, the rise in gay TV /movies and ofcourse the VP's hunting accident are ALL GEORGE BUSH'S FAULT !!!!

I was in Wal-Mart today and decided to check outthe gun section before heading out. They had a Remington 870 Express Super Mag camoed for less than $300, I think this shotgun retails for over $500. I was just looking and was tempted to buy the shotgun on the spot. With discounts like this, no wonder the little guy is going out of business, but why is everyone complaining about catching a sweet deal?
P.S. I couldn't find this exact shotgun on Remington's site, it's a Remington 870 Express Super Mag Camo in Realtree Hardwood and 26" barrel. Anyone know if this was discontinued?

Least billy clitoon[:'(][>:]had a big hand in saving us from buying/importing all those cheap chinese firearms& ammo.(if ya like seeing that kinda thing that is)
But i hate seeing anyone not selling firearms for poltical reasons tho.
Walmarts is suppose to be economic reasons? Those ruskis suresell all the ammo they import into the US elsewear- many buy it by the cases.
But as someone said i think its just a start- sign of things to come-
They built a new walmat(expanded it into a superstore)here a few yrs ago- There building a newwalmat superstore on the other side of town about 5 miles away(32 store)- many buildings are going up/ boom times are going on- a new sportsmens warehouse to we have now - nice store.
But the new walmart going up now wont sell firearms on the west side of town- demographic,s of buyers& the market must be diffent 5 miles away- acorrding to walmart anyways.

It's as simple as this: If you have a dollar in your hand, and you spend it at the local sports shop, there's at least a CHANCE that he'll bring that dollar back around your way sometime.
If you spend that same dollar at Wally World, it immediately gets passed down the line and eventually winds up in the hands of either some wildly wealthy entrepreneur, or in the hands of a low cost manufacturer in Guam.
Now, I'm not some lunatic who runs around boycotting every chain on the planet. I just see the value of keeping some of the local guys in business, even if it cost me a couple extra dollars.
Here's a good example: Two years ago, I bought a trek hardtail mountain bike at a local bikeshop (I could've saved $20-50 online, if I went that route). I sent a few buddies there, who bought high-end bikes as well. So the other night, I broke my chain and knocked some teeth off the chainring. I took it down there, and the guy fixed it at no labor cost, just a few bucks for the parts. If that guy's not in business, I'm stuckmailing parts all over the planet, or traveling 70 miles to the nearest pro shop, and wasting an entire day. This guy employs a couple high-schoolers to help out at the shop, and holds a charity bike race every year for kids with cancer. If everybody bought bikes at Walmart, this guy would be out of business and working for a slave's wage at a factory somewhere. You tell me if it's money well-spent.

Im not boycotting them -yet

Just got another henry rifle(usa made)- this one a youth model22.from walmart.
Have gotten some great deals in the past at walmart&the majority being Us made firearms- both handguns& rifles. ruger/savage, nef,remington.(and1 brazilian made dbl/shotgun
Like my well liked (ugly?) savage 116 stainless/30.06 with a scope- marked down to $250.00-wish they had more of those.
$79.00 nikon scopes sound like a great deal too...i will have to look for some of those next time i go to town/walmart.
But i will have to complain to them for not selling firearms in the new store going up now-5 miles closer to my house.

So none of this money goes to theWalmart employees, share holders (from lower class to upper class) and the multiple charities that Walmart donates to? Walmart is one of the largest donaters to charities in this country. Ooops, there I go again using common sense and facts in thoughtless emotional argument. My apologies.
Here's a wild thought, since everyone is caught up in complaining about gas prices ( even the moron from PA- Senator Spector wants to increase taxes on oil company profits) How about having Walmart open gas stations around the country?? They could really drive those prices down !! I wonder if the same people complaining about Walmart will complain about them selling (imported) refined oil (gas) at an incredibly low price ??
