Revolver scope? 2x ?4x? adjustable?
Just think about a scope to put on my ruger GP-100 .357mag. Its partially a deer gun for fairly close shots, (60 yards is the limit i would shoot at deer, and thats if i had a scope)(shots might be really close (10yards also)
i also want to do some longrange plinking (150yards (thats revolver longrange))(note: plinking means nothing serious, just throwing some bullets out at the steel silloheutes.)
not looking to spend too much maybe $250 for scope +rings and drill and tap.

Tough question, my first reaction is a 2-6x Bushnell Trophy, I just bought one but haven't mounted it yet, you can find it for around $170, and you could probably get the 'smith work done for about
$80-100, that would cover most of your bases. I can't really recommend one just yet though because I haven't shot mine(I bought it after shaking apart one of Trasco's products, accu-dot...I know you get what you pay for). But most anything should be O.K. on your 357 because recoil won't be a problem. The 2x fixed would allow you to get some better glass, but it would be tough to shoot @ 150 yard targets, the 4x in my opinion is not that great because pistol scopes tend to have a narrower fov than rifle scopes and it may be hard to quickly pick up game at close ranges with a 4x.
Just my 2cents worth, sorry for the essay...

I have a burris 2x7 on my 445 supermag and love it. You state that you are only shooting out to 60 yards so maybe a straight 2x is for you but this is really personal. I just like the adjustability of my scope.
