Hey everyone. Hopefully someone can answer this for me. Whenever i try to oil my bbl up on my gun...(for storage) once the oil touches the barrel it gets into oil spots. You know when you see an oild spot on the road or oil in the water or something...well thats what it does when it gets on my barrel or even of the surfaces that have been blued. just wondering why? Keep in mind that im not puttin alot of oil on...only a dab or so. Thanks. also wondering if theres anything i can do about it?

It just means that you have a quality blueing job on your guns and the thin layer of oil refracts the light. My Brownings do this, the POS surface on the rem 597 that I used to have that looked like black spray paint did not give the effect.

yes, Briman is correct. I also have a couple brownings that do this. My Remington 7400's and my 7600's do this also (They almost appear oily after they are wiped off). I too agree it has to do with the type of bluing oncertain guns.
I dont think its much to worry about as long as you are using a good quality gun oil. And you are if you are using rem oil.
Good luck.
