Default Remington XCR worth it?

Allright I am in the game for a new rifle and want a Remington 700 with a stainless barrel and synthetic stock. The caliber choiceI want is a .300WSM becauseI will be hunting deer(whitetail and probably mulies), bear, elk, long range antelope, and possibly moose and rams (if I ever draw a tag).

As for the gunI was looking at the XCR becauseit has the WSM unlike the SPS stainless, andI thinkI want the WSM over the Win. Mag. Plus the XCR has the special coating andI like the stock better. My boss told me a place where they sell guns for cost plus 10 percent soI thinkI could get the XCR for 700-750 if notI could get them on gunbroker for 740 shipped and FLL fees payed for, whichI dont think is too bad for a new rifle.

I will most likely top this with a Burris Fullfield II either 3x9 or 4.5x14

What do you guys think??

I think it would be a fine rifle. However, and this is just personel opinion, I lookes at the SPS in 300 WSM new for 399.00 last week. To me, this would be the way to go. Thats because I have really never seen the time when the weather proof coatings and finishes were needed. Claen and dry the gun soon after exposure to the elements and you will be fine. I would rather save the money for optics or other needed items. Like I said though thats just one poor mans way of looking at it.

I dont really need the coating or the over molds on the stock butI want a model 700 with a stainless barrel in a 300 WSM and it looks like the XCR is the only one. I want the stainless because it will be going threw rain and several feet of snow yearly so I would just like the stainless plusI think it looks better

I was looking for a stainless barrel and synthetic stock rifle when I found Remington's XCR. I like the way it looks and it's very accurate. I hunt in eastern Washington for mule deer and elk. This year we had 2 feet of snow during elk season and was happy to have the XCR out in the elements without a worry. Mine is in .270 with a Leupold VXIII 3.5-10x40.

I’m a big fan of the BIG GREEN and I recon that if you’re after a serious hunting rifle that won’t let you down and will take anything that Mother Nature can dish out then it’s a top choice. I got one in 375H&H topped with a 2.2-7X36 Kahles and I am looking forward to giving it a big workout.
