I would like to see somebody like Savage Firearms or NFE pick up the plant and continue to make the light weight lever actions.

i'de rather see remington pick them up , and possibly reintroduce some of their older cartridges like the .32 remington , .25 remington , .35 remington ( i know , it's available in the marlin 336 but , a 94 would be cool ) , and remington was their main competitor.

Why on earth would Remington ever consider picking up the Winchester name???????

They have a hard enough time with some of the crap they are making. They couldn't handle Picking up Winchester and turning it around.

It seems to me like if anyone would pick them up it would be Browning. Although from one of the earlier posts it doesnt sound like.

I totally agree. I also want to say that it is time for a legend to end, and let the manufacturers that have moved on to better craftmanship take the market. Obviously, that is what started Winchesters fall in marketing, craftmanship, and innovation. It is sad to see a home town manufacturer to go, but times moved on, and Winchester didn't.

I would say that developing the WSM and WSSM line was a pretty good move. They are and have been the hotest thing going for several years. I would hardly call that standing still. One has to wonder where the SM markey will go from here. I am no fan of Winchester but they have been a force in the market in the last few years.

I was at the Sportsmans Warehouse today and they said that a guy came in this morning and bought every model 70 that they had. About 12 grand worth. All they had left was three Lever model 94's. 2 44 Mags and one 357 mag. They now only have two left.

Good info. Time to sell my Model 70 .300 wsm. The "ultimate shadow". The only thing special about it is the stock, and all that fancy sculpting in the plastic stockdoesn't do anything. Neither do the rubber grips; I don't grip a gun that hard.

I realized shortly after buying it that I had paid too muchand maybe now I have a chance to dump it if somebody is that interested. There is nothing wrong with the rifle, I like shooting it,but it's nothing special either. Guess I'll put it in theclassifieds and see what happens.

the reason i said remington is because they don't currently make a lever action rifle , and the model 94 was a best seller . which would make them money.

the only other company that could make money with the winchesterwould be marlin , and the fact that marlin doesn't have a bolt action centerfire rifle at current time , and the m70 would just about be money in thier pocket. i think they could also make money with the m94 as well.

Just returned from my frequented gun shop, Scheels in Billings. Winchesters are wiped out; shelves empty. Salesman told me just today somebody bought two winchesters from their collectors' showcase for 12 grand.
