I searched for this topic here to no avail, I am going to buy a Weatherby rifle but wanted to know if anyone has any additional info on the two types that they offer. The Sub MOA vanguardrifle seems to be the logical choice, for economy*, but is there any reason to pay for the Mark V?

* economy of scale, it is a weatherby!
The Vanguard is not a guaranteed sub MOA according to their website.

This is perhaps the best rifle value on the market today. The Vanguard® Synthetic will outperform rifles costing hundreds more.

If you don't like the accubrake you can remove it. You should have gotten a little thread protector in a bag in the box. This is so you can remove the brake and install this cap to protect the threads.

If you didn't get this with your gun go back to the shop them to remove the brake and install the thread protector.

The only rifles that have the accubrake permanantly installed are the 30-378 and the 338-378, 378, 416 and 460.

reddog132, you are looking at the standard vanguard specs and not the sub MOA vanguard specs.

No, the accubrake does absaolutely nothing to improve or degrade the ballistics of the bullet.

What the accubrake does is reduce recoil when the gasses from the powder push against the holes in the brake and it increase muzzle blast and noise due to the gasses and sound waves being redirected from traveling away from the shooter to traveling to the side and back.

That increase in noise to the shooter is extreme.Never fire even a single shot with a braked rifle without hearing protection.
