gimme some suggestions on affordable 44mag pistols. I am looking at the taurus raging bull in the blued version. I think it retails for 602. I also have looked at the ruger redhawk in the blued for about the same. What do you think? EJ

I would go with a Ruger or a T/C Contender. The Taurus is a good gun but I was never really happy with my Ragin Bull. I always had wished I had went on and spent a little more for the Ruger.

I think the Ruger Blackhawk may be the cheapest. The Ruger would be my choice although the Taurus is certainly a good handgun.

I have the Ruger Super Redhawk in SS. I bought it used for about $350 and it looked like it wasnever shot. I put a box through it and with iron sights I had no problem keeping it in the kill zone at 75 yds. That year I shot a decent black bear with it and missed a deer. i shot a number of S&Ws and I feel the Ruger is balanced better not to mention the scope mounts on the rail. With a decentscope it is easy a 100 yd gun for deer.

I have a Ruger Super Blackhawk in 44 mag, and I dont think it can be beat. As far as toughness and reliability its gotta be near the top. Look at what they use to make the custom 475 and 500 Linebaugh's... Super Blackhawk bisleys....
