Default Stevens model 200 reviews

Does anyone have reviews on the Stevens 200? How does it shoot, andhow is the trigger?

One thing that I noticed is it looks like I will have a hard time finding a scope to fit with regular bases and rings. The taps are spread very far apart.

It is basically the Savage without the Accu-trigger. The reviews that I have read are good with the main point being that the Stevens is about what they have come to expect from Savage. I looked at a new one in 270 yesterday and I was impressed with the general appearance and fit and finish. Very nice for the money. I wouldn't be afraid to invest in one. I would expect the trigger would need work.

I was at the gunshop yesterday and handled one in 25-06. To me the gun seemed exactly like the Savages of 3-4 years ago. Not high quality blueing, cheap stock and crappy trigger. But the barrel is a Savage and I bet they shoot like a champ. For $275 you dont expect much aesthetically. If they made them in Lefthand I would buy one in a minute!!!! Too bad they made the stocks that light gray color, it reminded me of a Rem 710. I would not want that for fear someone would mistake it for a 710

I got a flyer from Bass Pro Shops yesterday, and they're selling the Stevens 200 in .270 or .30-06 for $199.

Talk about a bargain!

If only they'd make a left-handed version!

Moose, I could not pass up this deal. I bought onetoday in .270 from Bass Pro in Destin for $199. I don't think you can buy a new rifle for this price anywhere. I hope it shoots good.

I have read nothing but good reviews on this gun. Just about every review (and I have read about 6) have this thing shooting 1.5" average groups OR LESSat 100 yards with factory ammo. I don' care how much the gun costs, that is shooting! The trigger could be better but one reviewer said the trigger on his sample broke at 3.5 lbs.
You will have no trouble with any standard scope from any of the major manufacturers.

the savage rifles, especially the stevens 200, gets completely underestimated. these rifles are absolutely fantastic. this rifle will shoot sub MOA provided you're not blind. These babies are built for pure performance. check out www.savageshooters.net/forums to talk to about 500 people who own this rifle. i believe if you post one question about performance on there you'll get nothing but fantastic reviews from every direction
