Default Rifle

I have to write a paper for my college english class and I am doing it on deer hunting rifles and I wanted your input for what you think is the best and what kind of deer you use it on, and why you think it is the best. Thanks

I hunt Mule deer and use several different rifles none of which are really best but all very good. The 25-06. 6.5x55,7mm-08,270 and 308. These all do a very good job on deer out to 300 yards which is the Max for me to shoot at deer. To many variables past that range IMO. The 280 and many other calibers would work just as well. Most states require 22 caliber centerfires and bigger for deer hunting with some states requiring 24 caliber and up. Still a few more states allow 22 rimfire as well. .22 rimfires should not be allowed anywhere for deer size game IMO.

I'm not trying to discourage you from asking questions or
anyone from replying to this post but you can use the search
function on this site and come up with pages & pages of info
and not a fewlively "discussions".Then you still won't have
a real answer as there is no 1 best rifle.
Good luck on your paper.

I use a 30/30 Marlin. It is an excellent brush gun. The woods are extremely thick where I hunt. The barrel is short, which makes it very easy to manuver through the brush. The farthest shot I get on a Whitetail is 40-50 yards through the heavy timber. It is a very tough, durable, and reliable firearm. If you hunt in the brush, I highly recommend the 30/30 Marlin.

thanks for the answers. I agree that there is not a rifle that is really the best. It's just one of those cases that I can't think of the word I want but best is the closest I can think of but doesn't have the meaning I want. and thanks for the advice
